The price of a wish

If wishes can be sold, what would be the price?

Priceless, maybe. But then again, who wants to sell wishes? Isn't it enough to use them for yourselves?

Under the balmy skies, wish for yourselves a big white cottage, with the sea by your side. When you see that pair of shoes you just cannot resist, wish for yourselves a credit card with no limits. If studying makes you sick, wish for the freedom to choose what you want, and what you don't want to do.

Wishes do wonders. But alas, they are just wishes.

I, too, wish to seek the comfort of a white cottage when the weather's just perfect for chilling out. But you have to work hard and earn for it. Shoes appeal to me too, but is it realistic to keep buying whenever you want? And freedom? That is just something we all tell ourselves. Too many a times, the situation dictates what you do; people decide for you.

And when you wake up the next day, it happens again. Sometimes you know it, sometimes you don't. And often, we choose to live with it. After all, we haven't got much power to do what we want.

But we hope. We wish. It keeps us going, from falling apart. Maybe, that house would be yours in a few years; those shoes could be a gift from someone. Your freedom? That wouldn't be hard. Just trust that you can do it.

So I say, there is no price to wishes. Because they cannot be bought; we have to create them with our bare hands. Or rather, believe you can.

Because you really can.
